By operating in-country we’ve been given unique exposure to furniture designers and makers — from artists, to artisan co-ops, to large houses who make items for luxury brands. We’re always seeking furniture which complements our rugs. So we made our own. We’re starting small; a refined edit of sculptural, simple pieces in which form and materials harmonize.
Water hyacinth is a wildly abundant and powerful plant full of eco-friendly properties. Extremely quick-growing, it's tough, fibrous roots actually purify water, absorbing pollutants like nitrogen, phosphorus, lead, and mercury in high concentrations. To process it for basket weaving, the stalks are shredded lengthways, which exposes the fibers, and then left to dry in the sun.
Seagrass is a misleading name for many species of land-growing, occasionally sweet-smelling sedge grasses harvested for their strong, fibrous leaves and stems. The environmentally-friendly material has a natural wax coating which helps to repel dirt and dust, and has been used for over 150 years to hand-weave household goods. The Supplier
