The Collection
Named after the state of Northeast India in which these finely-flatwoven cotton textiles have been woven for centuries, these throws are identifiably Naga with their minimal, abstract geometric patterns. Woven at home on loin and backstrap looms, the handiwork is exquisite, and their fresh, minimal hues fit seamlessly into your living room—while connecting you to a heritage art from a faraway land.

The Design

A beautiful handwoven cotton throw with classic orange stripes punctuated by intricate geometric motifs, with a charming and delicate wrapped fringe at both ends. Elegant over the back of a couch or chair, but we like ours best folded at the end of the bed.

The Material

Cotton, a vegetable fiber, is widely used in rugs because of its sturdiness and strength. It also has the ability to stay white over long periods of time, and doesn’t yellow like other commonly used fibers, which will preserve the crispness and vibrancy of the design for many years to come.

The Supplier

Our partner began in 1991 with one weaver, and today employs more than 450. Their mission is to keep alive the cultural legacy of a heritage craft that’s been practiced by tribal communities for generations—in addition to creating livelihood options for a large community of weavers in the rural landscape of Nagaland and adjoining states.
