Revival Rugs Knot Mark

From vintage to new, custom to limited-edition, we make design-forward rugs inspired by traditional techniques. With over 5,000 styles and counting, we use a range of materials and constructions to create pieces that add comfort, beauty, and ease to your home.

Our Collections

Wool Rugs

Our new collections are fresh off the loom, designed by our in-house team and woven in collaboration with artisan partners. We often use premium wools from New Zealand and Sardinia for their softness and sturdiness.

Washable & Easy Care

Washable rugs don’t have to look washable. We use wool and polyester to make rugs you can toss in the washing machine. Flexible, soft, and easy to clean, our low-pile spot-clean rugs are the latest addition to our easy-care rug repertoire.

Recycled

We look to recycled materials often, transforming pairs of jeans into washable denim rugs, and polymers into yarn so soft you’d never guess it was made of plastic bottles.

One-of-a-kind

These handwoven pieces are the only one of their kind. Both new and vintage one-of-a-kind rugs are hand-selected by our teams in Istanbul and Casablanca. Learn more about how we process vintage rugs below.

Jute

A natural fiber known for its tensile strength and versatility, jute has minimal water needs, and consumes large enough quantities of carbon dioxide that it's carbon-neutral.

Vintage Rugs

Revival was founded on vintage pieces—one-of-a-kind rugs that we hand-picked and restored. Though we sell rugs of all ages today, vintage still makes up a big part of our offering.

The Rug’s Origin

It’s easy to forget how our material possessions are made. Many decades ago, artisans created our one-of-a-kind pieces entirely by hand. The wool was clipped and collected sheep-by-sheep to be handspun into yarn. From there, the rugs were skillfully handwoven using legacy designs. No machines, just special care and intention at each step.

Going to the Source

Our teams in Turkey and India travel down winding roads to remote reaches of the country to handpick rugs every month. Because we source vintage pieces at a large scale and high level of personal attention, we know exactly what to look for, ensuring the rugs we carry are not just beautiful, but also of the best quality.

Tumbling

We place each rug into an old-world piece of equipment whose size and tumbling motion creates an ideal environment of gentle agitation and turbulence—the mechanical version of flipping a rug over your veranda and whacking it with a stick. As the chamber rotates, the rug’s foundation bends and moves, revealing the valleys within the tightly-woven weave to remove any dust.

Trimming

Wool is a wonder fiber. It’s biodegradable, durable, and textural. It also can naturally fuzz over time, forming an outer layer that obscures the rug’s original charm. We use a rug-shearing tool to reveal a fresh and even layer that feels nearly new.

Cleaning

We use the same gentle but effective handbrush cleaning techniques that have been used for centuries. Once clean, the rug’s patina and warmth shine through, so we can assess how to categorize it.

Overdyeing

Overdyeing revivifies rugs with beautiful designs but lackluster color palettes. We bathe them in low-impact dye solutions until they reach just the right shade, illuminating their original pattern. After they’re dyed, another round of the washing process follows.

Line Drying

After our vintage pieces have been cleaned, the newly revived rugs are sun-dried to reveal their new vibrancy.
