The Design

Named after the Soumak weaving technique used to create each custom rug, which involves wrapping the weft around the warp. This method gives the weaver the ability to create intricate designs with interesting textures and directions in the weave. Handwoven with natural undyed wool, each rug showcases the fiber's raw beauty

The Material

New Zealand wool is a premium wool beloved for its softness and long fibers. Like all wools, it has a hydrophobic layer which repels dust and dirt, and lanolin, which provides its trademark luster and protects the fiber from breaking or shedding. It's woven onto a sturdy cotton warp for added durability.

The Maker

Our partner is a small, family-run operation based in Bhadohi, with an in-house spinning mill, dying plant, weaving unit, and washing unit. They’re invested in researching new weaving technologies, especially when it comes to improving environmentally-sound practices.

The Designer

Our in-house, all-star design team collaborates across three different countries. Based in Los Angeles, Istanbul, and Mumbai, they put a lot of thought into each and every collection they design. Starting with the weave itself, they determine material and technique, then create moodboards to capture the look and feel before starting to design. When designs are finalized, they conduct an extensive sampling process, perfecting each style and color before it goes to production.

  • Clean regularly with a non-rotary, low powered vacuum without a beater brush.
  • Rotate your rug on occasion to ensure even wear over time.
  • Keep away from excessive moisture.
  • Do not dry clean or steam clean.
  • Professional cleaning recommended as needed.
  • In case of spills, use a paper towel or cloth to blot the liquid. Add some clean water sparingly to the spot to dilute the stain (or wet a paper towel or cloth) and blot. If the stain is persistent, try using a mild detergent. Repeat this process until the stain is removed.
