The Collection
Named for its undyed yarn, the Natural Collection combines a soft, neutral palette with bold graphic designs. Reminiscent of a traditional Afghan weave, these rugs have a shaggy, ridge-like design that brushes down in one direction. Their geometric motifs are softened by the hand-spun wool’s natural wildness.
The Design
These pieces have a thick flatweave border detail which magnifies the manicured shag texture that makes up the body of the rug. Edwin’s large raised zigzag will elongate any space it's in.
The Material
This rug has a hand-knotted pile of New Zealand wool, a premium wool beloved for its softness and long fibers, which we mix with European wool for strength. Artisans separate the curly wool into like tones, which adds subtle movement to each area of color. Because undyed wool is relatively unprocessed, less of its lanolin is stripped out, making it both stronger and softer and ultimately, even more luxurious. In this collection, it’s handwoven onto a cotton foundation for further durability.
The Maker
Our partner is a small, family-run operation based in Bhadohi, with an in-house spinning mill, dying plant, weaving unit, and washing unit. They’re invested in researching new weaving technologies, especially when it comes to improving environmentally-sound practices.
The Designer
Our in-house, all-star design team collaborates across three different countries. Based in Los Angeles, Istanbul, and Mumbai, they put a lot of thought into each and every collection they design. Starting with the weave itself, they determine material and technique, then create moodboards to capture the look and feel before starting to design. When designs are finalized, they conduct an extensive sampling process, perfecting each style and color before it goes to production.
