A loop pile rug with jute and wool
Rug Type:
-
Hand-loomed Rugs
Handwoven pile rugs made on a loom, with an innovative technique that lifts the warp yarn to create a pile that’s looped or cut
Age:
-
New
Recently woven and never used in a home
Main Color:
- Green
- Jute and wool on cotton foundation
- Medium pile: approximately .3” thick (8mm)
- Slight variations in size due to handmade nature
- We recommend you pair this piece with a rug pad for comfort and longevity
- Color palette: olive green, moss green, sandstone, bone beige, tan
The Design
Soft and straightforward, this rug has a loop pile construction which places it sort of halfway between flatweave and pile rug: just enough cushion and comfort without being super shaggy.
The Material
In this piece, jute and wool are blended for texture. Jute is a natural fiber with a golden sheen, known for its tensile strength and versatility. Wool has a hydrophobic layer which repels dust and dirt, as well as lanolin, which provides its trademark luster and protects the fiber from breaking or shedding. These are woven onto a cotton foundation for further durability.
The Maker
Our partner in Bhadohi began as a small weaver 40 years ago, and today they focus on sustainable, durable products, as well as creating and maintaining a healthy working environment for their artisans. Many of their processes involve handiwork: hand-picked fleece, handspun wool, hand-knotting, hand-carving and embroidery.
The Designer
Our in-house, all-star design team collaborates across three different countries. Based in Los Angeles, Istanbul, and Mumbai, they put a lot of thought into each and every collection they design. Starting with the weave itself, they determine material and technique, then create moodboards to capture the look and feel before starting to design. When designs are finalized, they conduct an extensive sampling process, perfecting each style and color before it goes to production.
- Clean regularly with a non-rotary, low powered vacuum without a beater brush.
- Rotate your rug on occasion to ensure even wear over time.
- Keep away from excessive moisture.
- Do not dry clean or steam clean.
- Professional cleaning recommended as needed.
- In case of spills, use a paper towel or cloth to blot the liquid. Add some clean water sparingly to the spot to dilute the stain (or wet a paper towel or cloth) and blot. If the stain is persistent, try using a mild detergent. Repeat this process until the stain is removed.
