The fruity half of this collection has a cozy hand-tufted construction. The apple is done with a looped technique which makes it slightly raised, a sweet detail that's reminiscent of needlepoint. Its green yarn is space dyed for a subtle, brindled color variation.
The CollectionAmanda Jane Jones x Revival was born because we were such big fans of Amanda's work, on the page and in her home. After we supplied her new house with some Hart rugs, we approached her about designing her own pieces for us. That was the prompt: what kind of rugs would you like to have in your house? From there, our design team worked out the weaves and textures that would most effectively translate her designs from paper collage to her floors!
The MaterialUnparalleled for centuries, wool has a hydrophobic layer which repels dust and dirt, as well as lanolin, which provides its trademark luster and protects the fiber from breaking or shedding. To create the apple's dappled highs and lows, we space-dyed the fiber in small batches. This process achieves a watercolor effect, adding depth of color. The dye we use is low-impact, which means no heavy metals and less greywater. It's then hand-tufted onto a cotton canvas backing for stability.
The MakerOur partner has been weaving for 50 years, inheriting the business from his father. Some of the weavers have been there for that long, too. Devoted equally to treating workers well and developing quality products, they're also Good Weave certified, which guarantees high quality and trustworthiness across the board.
The DesignerAmanda Jane Jones is a graphic designer, art director, illustrator, children's book author, print designer, mom--and one of the nicest people we've ever had the pleasure of meeting. She also has a serious knack for interior design, which made her a dream collaborator on this project. Amanda's design approach is simple, punctuated with bursts of color.
Clean regularly with a non-rotary, low powered vacuum without a beater brush. Rotate your rug on occasion to ensure even wear over time. To spot clean, dab a damp cloth on the affected area immediately. Keep away from excessive moisture. Do not dry clean or steam clean. Professional cleaning recommended as needed.
