Motifs
  • A variation of motifs—simple, tribal, bold, and colorful—all hailing from the Anatolian region (modern-day Turkey)
  • A modern carpet-weaving mainstay, the centerpiece design featuring an oversized medallion was inspired by 15th-century Persian manuscript covers
  • Twin pendants flank a central medallion
  • A sickle-leaf motif with highly detailed and serrated leaves displays the meticulous craftsmanship and skill of the weaver
  • A larger border is flanked by two smaller borders
  • A simple, but classic design—zig-zag patterns represent water as a vital element in life
Region of Origin

Balikesir is a western Anatolian town known for nomadic Yoruk rugs. These tend to feature stepped hexagonal patterns and a maze-like pattern of latch-hook motifs.
