The Collection

Originally nicknamed the High-Low rugs, the Mountain Collection captures a hand-drawn feel and plays with the idea of sculpture and reliefs. Our design team used tonal colors for both the flatweave and pile sections, to let the light give the rugs a carved effect. This collection is woven with undyed, all-natural wool of different colors, which are blended and spun together, creating a beautiful range of hues

The Design

The Mountain rugs have a chunky, tightly-woven pile that's so soft and thick you feel like you're floating on it. The design is carved into the pile, revealing a brindled natural flatweave. This piece's triangular composition lives up to the collection's name, with a mountainous peak surrounded by shining lines.

The Material

New Zealand wool, a premium wool beloved for its softness and long fibers, has a hydrophobic layer which repels dust and dirt, as well as lanolin, which provides its trademark luster and protects the fiber from breaking or shedding. In this piece, undyed New Zealand wool is blended with a variety of other undyed wools (Indian, Saudi, Moroccan) to achieve a natural abrash effect in the yarn color. This premium wool blend is hand-knotted onto a cotton foundation for durability.

The Maker

Our partner has been weaving for 50 years, inheriting the business from his father. Some of the weavers have been there for that long, too. Devoted equally to treating workers well and developing quality products, they're also Good Weave certified, which guarantees high quality and trustworthiness across the board.

The Designer

Our in-house, all-star design team collaborates across three different countries. Based in Los Angeles, Istanbul, and Mumbai, they put a lot of thought into each and every collection they design. Starting with the weave itself, they determine material and technique, then create moodboards to capture the look and feel before starting to design. When designs are finalized, they work with the supplier on an extensive sampling process, perfecting each style and color before it goes to production.

  • We recommend that you regularly vacuum your rug to remove dirt and grime. Depending on how heavily your rug is used, just once or twice a month is adequate. Too much vacuuming can wear down the knots and fibers more quickly. If you have a suction attachment on your vacuum cleaner, use that instead of a rotary vacuum.
  • Every few months, you’ll also want to flip your rug over and vacuum the back to get the grit out of the foundation of the rug. It also helps to rotate your rug once a year to ensure even wear over time.
  • Every 3-5 years, we recommend getting your rug professionally hand-washed. Please do not take it to get steam or dry cleaned—this will almost certainly damage the rug! Hand-washing requires the use of a pH-balanced shampoo, worked into the rug by hand with a soft-bristled brush, before being rinsed thoroughly. This process should be repeated a few times.
  • In case of spills, use a paper towel or cloth to blot the liquid. Add some clean water sparingly to the spot to dilute the stain (or wet a paper towel or cloth) and blot. If the stain is persistent, try using a mild detergent. Repeat this process until the stain is removed.
