The Collection
We made a better washable rug. Made of recycled materials and done in calm neutrals, with an extraordinarily comfortable pile, these pieces are not mats: they’re the real deal, thick and soft to cushion every step. Plus, their lightness and foldability makes washing easy.
The Design
The Vessel rugs celebrate the art of basketweaving, drawing on intricate patterns and textures that have been passed through generations. Just as there are myriad techniques of rug weaving, there are many ways to weave a vessel. Each design’s texture mimics the techniques of coiling, plaiting and twining, achieved by juxtaposing raised and shrunken parts of the fiber. Saule is a multicolored version of our single-tone Willow rug. Its all-over checkered design moves across the rug in a diagonal pattern.
The Material
These pieces are made with recycled polyester left over from production companies who manufacture polymers for textiles, medical, and engineering purposes, and which would otherwise end up in a landfill. The polyester runoff is transformed through heat into a soft, sustainable fiber with the look and feel of wool. Our recycled poly is highly durable, OEKO-TEX certified for safety, mildew-resistant and machine-washable.
The Maker
Our partner in Turkey began as a small family-owned weaving house over 50 years ago, with only two looms. Today, they’re recognized as an award-winning leader in weaving technology, even making their own yarn for their various types of textile production.
The Designer
Our in-house, all-star design team collaborates across three different countries. Based in Los Angeles, Istanbul, and Mumbai, they put a lot of thought into each and every collection they design. Starting with the weave itself, they determine material and technique, then create moodboards to capture the look and feel before starting to design. When designs are finalized, they conduct an extensive sampling process, perfecting each style and color before it goes to production.
